The Museum of Local History named after Khuseyn Isaev is located in a surprisingly beautiful place, in the heart of the mountainous Itum-Kalinsky district of Chechnya. The complex is recreated on the basis of the medieval historical and architectural complex of the 11th-15th centuries Pkhakoch. There were only the ruins, but the tower complex was restored on the initiative of the Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov. The Pkhakoch castle complex is located at the entrance to the Tazbichi gorge, it faces the stony box of Dore-Akhk on the west and the mountains of Tsunik on the east. Inside the fortress, surrounded by a stone wall, there are several residential and one battle tower, a water mill, and stone buildings. The Museum of Local History is located on the ground floor in one of the residential towers of the complex. Here are exhibited ancient weapons, utensils, household items, tools, which are more than a hundred years old. On the second floor is the memorial museum of Khuseyn Isaev. The museum was opened in September 2011.
The way here lies through the Argun gorge, and, passing along a narrow winding road, guests can enjoy the amazing beauty of the pristine nature.
According to legend, Pkhakoch appeared thanks to the glorious hero Eton. Traveling in the mountains, he stopped to rest at this place, and when he woke up, he saw that the swallow was making a nest on his sword, and the spider wove a silver web. Eton considered this a good sign and decided to build a village on this place, which is now called Itum-Kali.
